Five Pakistanis who were trapped in Cambodia under false job promises have been rescued, following a report published by NewsTech just three days ago. The individuals were being held captive and were forced to pay ransom to secure their freedom.
Husnain Talha, one of the rescued victims from Muzaffargarh, shared his ordeal with NewsTech after safely returning to Pakistan. He revealed that he had been locked in a room, and despite making an initial payment, more money was demanded. Husnain explained that many innocent Pakistanis are still trapped in Cambodia, left helpless and forced into fraudulent activities.
Husnain exposed a horrifying scheme where victims, including himself, were made to conduct fraud through call centers. Those who refused to cooperate were treated inhumanely, often deprived of food and locked in rooms until they complied. He added that some were even tortured with electric shocks or left stranded at the Vietnam border.
The building they were held in had an 8-foot-high wall topped with electric wires to prevent escape. Husnain recounted how he lived in constant fear for his life, witnessing firsthand the brutal conditions.
The victim also disclosed that women, including 20 to 25 girls from South Punjab, are still facing severe hardships after falling into the same trap while seeking employment abroad. Husnain has called on authorities to take immediate action against fraudulent agents and rescue the remaining Pakistanis trapped in Cambodia.
He urged the government to intensify efforts for the safe return of other Pakistanis still suffering in Cambodia.
