At the United Nations General Assembly, several delegations, including Pakistan, walked out during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech.
After Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s speech, when Netanyahu took the stage, the assembly became noisy with pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel slogans. During his speech, diplomats from Pakistan and other countries left the hall in protest. The Pakistani delegation walked out in opposition to Israeli brutality in Gaza and Lebanon.
In his speech, Netanyahu claimed that he had heard many lies at the Assembly. He stated that Israel wants peace and has made efforts to build friendship between Arabs and Jews. He mentioned that a deal with Saudi Arabia was near, but recent events reminded him of the Holocaust.
Netanyahu urged the Security Council to impose sanctions on Iran for trying to develop nuclear weapons and said Israel would do everything it can to stop this program.
He also accused Hamas of seizing food supplies sent to Gaza and selling them at high prices, making Hamas stronger. He said Israel wants to make Gaza a demilitarized zone and prefers local civilian administration there.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the UN General Assembly and presented the case for Palestine. He stated that genocide is happening in Gaza, and it is not enough to just condemn it – the bloodshed must stop immediately.
Sharif called for the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and demanded that the United Nations recognize Palestine as a member state.
