The 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit is set to begin today in Islamabad, with the participation of prime ministers from eight member countries, including host nation Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan will be joined by Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, and Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.
Also attending the summit are Kyrgyzstan’s Chairman of the Cabinet Akylbek Japarov, Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber, and India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Mongolia will participate as an observer, represented by its Prime Minister, while Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet, Rashid Meredov, is attending as a special guest.
