A shocking scam has surfaced in Cambodia, where hundreds of Pakistanis, including both men and women, are trapped after being lured with false promises of jobs. Many of these individuals were taken to Cambodia by agents who promised them work, only to be forced into domestic labor or worse.
Reports from the victims reveal they paid as much as PKR 500,000 to secure jobs in Cambodia, but upon arrival, they were subjected to harsh conditions and torture. One Pakistani, who sent a message to a Pakistani journalist, was reportedly electrocuted to death by the captors. The journalist informed NewsTech Pakistan, adding that the scammers are now demanding an additional $3,000 for their release.
The group pleaded for help, urging the Pakistani government and the embassy to intervene and assist in their return home. In a heartbreaking video, several trapped Pakistanis shared their ordeal, saying they are being denied food, given only water, and are constantly tortured.
“We are poor people. We were promised jobs, but now we are being treated like slaves,” said one man from Faisalabad, breaking into tears.
The video, filmed secretly by the victims, highlights the dire situation as they appeal for help, not only from the government but also from the public. They emphasized that their families in Pakistan are living in extreme distress, and fear for their lives.
In light of these horrific events, one journalist speaking to NewsTech Pakistan urged people to stop their loved ones from falling prey to these scams. “There are no real jobs there. Young men and women are kidnapped upon arrival and held for ransom, with no hope of freedom unless they pay millions of rupees.”
The situation is urgent, and the victims call for immediate action from authorities to save their lives.
