The ongoing slow internet speeds in Pakistan have pushed the e-commerce sector to the verge of collapse. Online sellers have expressed deep concerns, stating that high-speed internet is crucial for their business operations. Without reliable internet, they cannot work efficiently, nor can customers across the country place online orders at their stores. As a result, millions of people working in the online industry are facing significant disruptions due to recent internet issues in Pakistan.

Many online stores operating in Pakistan have reported that their sales have dropped by as much as 60% in recent days. They urge the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and other relevant bodies to urgently resolve the issue. If the problem persists, the rapidly growing e-commerce industry may face devastating consequences.

Consumers in Pakistan Also Struggling with Slow Internet for Online Shopping

On the other hand, daily online shoppers in Pakistan are also facing difficulties. For many, especially housewives, online shopping has provided convenience by allowing essential items to be delivered to their doorstep without hassle. However, there are growing complaints about slow internet speeds, particularly with mobile networks, where websites fail to load properly.

The number of online consumers and e-commerce companies is rapidly increasing across the country. This positive trend was progressing well, but the recent internet issues have become a major obstacle. Thousands of young men and women in Pakistan have successfully entered the world of online retail without needing to open traditional physical shops. In this scenario, the prolonged delay in resolving the internet problems raises serious questions about the effectiveness of the concerned authorities and highlights their failure to address the issue.

PTA and IT Ministry Offer Conflicting Explanations on Internet Issues

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Ministry of IT have issued various statements regarding the ongoing internet issues in the country. At different times, the problem was attributed to VPN disruptions or network issues from certain service providers in Pakistan. Eventually, it was officially clarified that the core problem was a fault in the submarine cables. Out of the seven cables, two experienced faults, with one already repaired. Initially, the second cable was expected to be fixed by October, but the latest statement suggests the issue will be resolved by September 24.

While there was some improvement in internet speed after the first cable was repaired, severe issues resurfaced in recent days, once again affecting millions across the country. From large corporations to small businesses, everyone is facing significant difficulties due to the unreliable internet.

Freelancers in Pakistan Face Setbacks as Slow Internet Threatens Timely Deliveries and Reputations

Additionally, millions of freelancers across Pakistan are also struggling with slow internet speeds. In freelancing, delivering work on time to clients is crucial. Failure to do so not only risks damaging a freelancer’s reputation but also causes a drop in ratings, which can prevent future orders. For many freelancers, this situation means that their hard work and efforts could go to waste simply because they are unable to meet deadlines due to the persistent internet problems.
