No Fixed Date for 5G in Pakistan, Process Ongoing, Consultant Being Hired for Auction: IT Secretary

Chaired by Amin Ul Haq, the National Assembly Standing Committee on IT & Telecom held a meeting to discuss the progress of the 5G auction. The Secretary of IT & Telecom informed the committee that a consultant is being hired for the 5G auction process. He emphasized that 5G will only succeed if there is substantial investment from the private sector.

The Secretary also mentioned that importing the necessary technical equipment will take time. When asked by Barrister Gohar Ali about when 5G would be available nationwide, the Secretary responded that no fixed date could be provided, as the process would take time.

Amin Ul Haq urged the officials to expedite the process to ensure the launch of 5G by next year.
