Google tests verified checkmarks in search results

76

Google is testing a new feature that shows blue verified check marks next to certain companies in its search results. This move is meant to help users identify genuine businesses and avoid fake websites that can trick people into viewing false information or harm a brand’s reputation.

A Google spokesperson explained that they regularly test features to help shoppers find trustworthy businesses online. Right now, they are running a small experiment to display check marks next to verified companies.

Google already uses systems to block scammy or fake websites from appearing in search results. According to The Verge, companies like Microsoft, Meta, and Apple are some of the first to have these check marks.
