Sindh Government Proposes Karachi or Hyderabad for Sindh Premier Cricket League

33
The Sindh government has proposed holding the Sindh Premier Cricket League (SPL) matches in either Karachi or Hyderabad. This suggestion came during a meeting between the SPL delegation and key officials, including Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Meher and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab.
The delegation, which also included Secretary of Sports Jalaluddin Meher, Vice Chairman Major General (retd) Zahid Mahmood, Malik Aslam, and Chief Engineer Aslam Meher, discussed promoting cricket talent in Sindh and improving cricket infrastructure.
The Sindh government and SPL agreed on joint projects to prepare cricket stadiums. Minister Bakhsh Meher stated that Karachi is the primary option, with Hyderabad as a secondary choice. “Karachi has excellent grounds, and Hyderabad’s Niaz Stadium is also a viable option,” he added.
The government aims to advance youth cricket in Sindh, and Minister Bakhsh Meher emphasized that the league will showcase local talent. Mayor Murtaza Wahab assured full cooperation and noted that the final decision on whether to hold the league in Qatar or Sindh will be made by the Chief Minister of Sindh.
The SPL is seen as a prime opportunity to highlight and develop cricket talent in the region, with both Karachi and Hyderabad having adequate facilities to host the league.
