The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan as the captain of Pakistan’s ODI and T20 teams, with Salman Ali Agha as the vice-captain. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the leadership changes during a press conference in Lahore.
Naqvi praised the PCB’s selection committee for their hard work, particularly in finalizing the central contracts and during the last two Test matches, highlighting the committee’s significant role in the team’s recent successes.
Addressing the situation with Babar Azam, Naqvi expressed that Babar is a valuable asset to Pakistan cricket. He revealed that Babar himself opted out of the captaincy to focus on improving his game, indicating his desire to prioritize his performance over the leadership role.
On the topic of Fakhar Zaman, Naqvi acknowledged that there are issues related to Fakhar’s fitness and a recent tweet. He confirmed that a show-cause notice had also been issued to Fakhar due to these matters.
