England all-rounder Moeen Ali has announced his retirement from international cricket after a successful career spanning from 2014 to 2024. Moeen, who played 298 international matches for England, decided to step away from the game after realizing that he was no longer part of England’s future plans.

In an interview with former England captain Nasser Hussain in the Daily Mail, Moeen, 37, shared his thoughts on retirement:

“I’m 37 years old and wasn’t selected for the series against Australia this month. I’ve played a lot of cricket for England, and it’s now time for the next generation to take over. I’ve done my part, and the timing felt right.”

Moeen last represented England in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and has been a key player for the team throughout his decade-long career.
