Officials from the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) conducted an unexpected visit to various cafés and restaurants in Khayaban-e-Sahar, leading to their sealing for illegal practices. The action was prompted by complaints received from consumers via online platforms and social media regarding establishments in the Sahr Commercial area.
The SRB found violations of the Sindh Sales Tax Services Act 2011, as consumers were not provided with necessary information about tax collection. During the surprise inspection on September 21, 2024, it was revealed that a Point of Sale invoicing system was in place, along with the collection of Sindh sales tax.
The SRB stated that such surprise visits will continue, aiming to bring violators within the legal framework.
