Sindh High Court Orders Registration of All Daily Wage Workers in SESSI and EOBI

49

During a hearing, the Sindh High Court directed the registration of all daily wage workers, including those working on a daily wage basis, in SESSI and EOBI. Justice Salahuddin Panhwar expressed concern over the lack of action for workers, comparing labor markets to cattle markets. He questioned SESSI officials about their efforts for these workers, pointing out that only 876,000 laborers are currently registered, a small increase from 600,000 a decade ago. The court has asked all parties to be fully prepared for the next hearing, scheduled in two weeks.
