Karachi: The Sindh government, through the federal authorities, has reopened discussions with Chinese officials for the revival of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), announced Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. He expressed confidence that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will soon deliver the KCR project to the citizens of Karachi.
Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the Sindh government is fully committed to addressing Karachi’s problems and is making every effort to provide relief to the people. He noted that road repair work in the city began after the recent heavy rains and that the provincial government has already allocated Rs 1.5 billion to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) for road repairs.
The chief minister highlighted that Rs 200 billion is being spent on various development projects across Karachi, with significant progress being made on key transport projects. Shah mentioned that the completion of the Red Line and Yellow Line BRT projects will significantly alleviate the city’s transportation issues.
He also noted that the completion of the Malir Expressway will ease traffic flow and resolve congestion problems in the city.
The Sindh government is planning another expressway project, connecting Karachi Port to Jam Sadiq Bridge, aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure.
CM reiterated that the completion of critical projects like transport, road sector improvements, the Safe City initiative, and the K-IV water project will transform Karachi into a world-class city. He affirmed that the PPP’s mission is to serve the people, and the party remains dedicated to public welfare.
Highlighting the broader impact of the Sindh government’s projects, Shah mentioned that initiatives such as Thar coal mining, coal and wind power projects, and the construction of bridges over rivers are national-level projects that have benefited not just Sindh, but the entire country.
