Rising Traffic Fatalities in Karachi: 598 Dead, Thousands Injured This Year

39
Traffic accidents have claimed the lives of 598 people in Karachi so far this year, according to rescue officials. Additionally, 6,428 people have been injured in traffic incidents across the city.
Rescue authorities report that most fatalities involve motorcyclists, while high-speed dumpers and water tankers are also major contributors to the death toll. In just the past 24 hours, three separate accidents involved high-speed dumpers and trailers.
One incident occurred on the Sher Shah Bridge, where a trailer container fell on a motorcyclist, resulting in the rider’s death. In another accident at Memon Goth, a truck collision left two children injured. On the Super Highway near SITE, a speeding trailer also struck multiple vehicles, further intensifying concerns about road safety in the city.
