Punjab is planning its first high-speed rail service between Lahore and Rawalpindi, which is expected to cost over Rs400 billion.
The rail link proposal has been sent to the Punjab Chief Minister for approval. The new rail line will allow trains to travel at speeds of up to 250 km/h, reducing travel time between the two cities to under two hours.
The plan also includes a pre-feasibility study by the railway department, funded by the Department of Planning and Development. However, a major challenge for the project will be securing enough funds to start it.
If approved, this project will greatly improve Pakistan’s transportation system, offering a fast and modern travel option for people.
