Punjab Government to Establish Development, Water & Sanitation, and Horticulture Authorities

31

Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to establish three new provincial authorities focused on development, water and sanitation, and horticulture. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given in-principle approval for the formation of these authorities.

Formal legislation will be introduced to establish the authorities. These provincial bodies will formulate policies and plans at the central level, while local agencies will ensure the implementation of development, water and sanitation, and horticulture projects at the local level.

Proposals have also been made to form governing boards and appoint director generals for each authority. The possibility of establishing local management boards and appointing managing directors is under review.

Additionally, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed that streetlights be shifted to solar energy as part of this initiative.
