PTA Blames Submarine Cable Faults for Nationwide Internet Slowdown
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has attributed the ongoing internet slowdown across the country to faults in two of the seven international submarine cables connecting Pakistan to the global internet. According to PTA, the faults in the SMW4 and AAE-1 cables are the primary reasons behind the significant reduction in internet speeds.
The disruption has caused widespread issues for users across Pakistan. Many businesses, including e-commerce startups, freelancers, and software houses, are experiencing challenges due to the slow internet. The impact is not just limited to daily operations; it is also contributing to a decline in business activities and leading to losses amounting to millions of dollars.
