During a meeting of the Focal Group of Communication, Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, expressed concerns over the performance and financial discipline of Pakistan Postal Services. He stated, “An institution with high expenses and low revenue cannot function. Instead of relying on government funds, we must generate our own resources.”
The Minister directed that an emergency financial plan be developed for Pakistan Post within a week and instructed that vacant positions be abolished to reduce unnecessary costs. He urged implementing effective strategies to increase revenue, including establishing NADRA and passport counters in General Post Offices (GPOs) and post offices across the country.
Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that to save Pakistan Post, officials must work tirelessly. He noted, “The traditional postal system has changed, and we must now operate according to new demands.” The Federal Secretary for Communications was tasked to submit a detailed report within one week on meeting these financial goals.
