Sialkot – A man accused of stealing millions in foreign currency from his friend’s home was apprehended. The suspect, identified as Umair, was a longtime friend of the complainant, Kamran Sajjad, with whom he had a 15-year friendship, police reported.
According to officials, the suspect had made duplicate keys to Kamran’s house. On the day of the robbery, Kamran and his wife had left home to drop their children at school, allowing Umair to enter the house and access a safe in the wardrobe. He stole foreign currency worth approximately Rs 20.22 million and fled the scene.
The police used CCTV footage, mobile call data records (CDRs), and location tracking to locate and arrest Umair. During the investigation, the police recovered Rs 16 million in cash, along with 1,200 US dollars, 600 euros, 5,500 Riyals, and 2,450 Philippine pesos.
Kamran Sajjad reportedly acquired the funds by selling a property, according to the police spokesperson.
