Karachi Traffic Violations Lead to Rs. 800 Million in Fines This Year

27

The traffic police have issued fines totaling Rs. 800 million for traffic violations in Karachi this year. According to DIG Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, the majority of these fines, amounting to Rs. 320 million, were issued to motorcyclists.

In comparison to Lahore, Karachi sees only ten percent of the traffic fines. Despite having a smaller population, Lahore issues 30,000 to 35,000 fines daily, while Karachi records 3,000 to 5,000 fines per day.

Despite the fines, citizens continue to violate traffic rules, noted DIG Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema.
