Hackers Target Sindh Cabinet Ministers’ Phone Numbers

52

KARACHI: Hackers have reportedly begun targeting the phone numbers of ministers in the Sindh Cabinet, leading the Sindh government to decide to approach the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take action against the cybercriminals.

Recently, two senior government officials received phone calls from the number of Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah. The calls, which were later discovered to be fake, included instructions that raised suspicion among the officials. One of the officials noted that the voice on the call did not match that of Minister Sardar Shah, prompting them to report the incident to the Education Department.

In another incident, staff members of a different Sindh Cabinet minister received instructions via messages, which were also sent from a hacked number. The messages contained specific directions, including a request to promote an officer.

The Sindh government is taking these breaches seriously and is collaborating with the FIA to track down the hackers responsible for these fraudulent communications.
