Balochistan Bar Council Approaches Supreme Court Against Proposed Constitutional Amendments

59

The Balochistan Bar Council has filed a petition with the Supreme Court opposing the proposed constitutional amendments, asserting that fundamental rights and judicial independence are core tenets of the Constitution.

The petition states that no amendments can be made that violate the fundamental principles of the Constitution. It requests the court to declare the proposed amendments tantamount to breaking the Constitution.

Furthermore, the petition seeks to label the proposed constitutional amendment bill as unconstitutional and illegal. It asks the court to prevent the federal government and members of Parliament from presenting the bill, and to halt the introduction of the amendment bill until the National Assembly and Senate are fully constituted.

Lastly, the petition requests that if the proposed constitutional amendment bill is presented, it should be considered suspended.
