Suspected Monkeypox Case Reported in Karachi

A suspected case of monkeypox (mpox) has been reported in Karachi, raising concerns among health authorities. The patient, a young man who recently arrived from Jeddah, exhibited symptoms consistent with monkeypox, leading to immediate action by local health officials.
 
The suspected patient has been transferred to the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital in NIPA, where he is currently under observation and isolation. Health authorities are conducting tests to confirm the diagnosis and are taking all necessary precautions to prevent any potential spread of the virus.
 
Monkeypox, now commonly referred to as mpox, is a viral infection that presents symptoms such as fever, rash, and swollen lymph nodes. It is a zoonotic disease, meaning it can be transmitted from animals to humans, and in some cases, from human to human. Health officials have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases to the nearest health facility.
