Dengue Outbreak Worsens in Islamabad with 138 Cases Reported in 24 Hours

The dengue virus has spiraled out of control in the federal capital, Islamabad, with a record 138 cases reported in the last 24 hours. According to the District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad, 84 cases were reported from rural areas, while 54 cases were from urban regions.

So far, a total of 1,327 dengue cases have been recorded this season, with 795 cases from rural areas and 532 from urban parts of Islamabad. Over the past 24 hours, 8 dengue patients were admitted to PIMS, 9 to Polyclinic, 6 to FGSH, and 1 to Capital Hospital.

Additionally, private labs reported 94 dengue cases within the last day, while 11 new patients from Islamabad were admitted to Holy Family Hospital, and 9 were admitted to BBH Rawalpindi. According to the report, 68% of dengue patients in Islamabad are men, while 32% are women.

This season, 766 dengue cases have been reported by private labs. The DHO identified Koral, Rawat, Tarlai, and Tarnol as dengue hotspots. In the last 24 hours, 305 dengue larvae samples tested positive.
