New gas reserves have been discovered in the Khairpur district of Sindh, according to a report submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
The drilling for the Akhiro-1 well in the South Block of Khairpur began in February, reaching a depth of 12,442 feet. The well is producing approximately 10 million standard cubic feet of gas daily, with a pressure of 4,000 pounds per square inch, as reported by OGDCL.
The exploration was conducted by a consortium of companies, including OGDCL, Government Holdings Private Limited, Sindh Energy Holding, and United Energy Limited. The discovery of these hydrocarbon gas reserves is expected to play a significant role in meeting the country’s energy needs.
