Govt to Impose 7 New Taxes if Revenue Misses Target by 1%

The government has agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to introduce seven new taxes during the fiscal year 2024-25 if revenue collection misses the projected target by 1%. This agreement was outlined in the IMF’s report under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), which highlighted these contingent taxation measures as a safeguard against potential revenue shortfalls.
