During a press conference with the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb revealed that Rs. 128 billion in sales tax is being evaded across various sectors. The textile business alone accounts for over Rs. 23 billion, coal in the cement industry for Rs. 18 billion, the battery manufacturing sector for Rs. 11 billion, and the beverage industry for Rs. 15 billion.

The minister emphasized that the government will not tolerate false reporting from companies and has no choice but to enforce strict measures. He added that the goal is to increase the tax-to-GDP ratio to 13.5% and to stop the ongoing sales tax evasion.

The FBR Chairman warned that no one involved, whether employees or taxpayers, will be spared, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
