The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced that today is the final deadline for submitting income tax returns, with no further extensions to be granted. As of now, over 5.1 million tax returns have been filed, generating more than Rs 125 billion in revenue.
Taxpayers can submit their returns until midnight tonight. Starting November 1, those who have not filed will be categorized as late filers or non-filers, facing stricter tax measures. Non-filers will be subject to double taxes on vehicle and property purchases.
FBR officials also noted that individuals with a monthly income of Rs 50,000 or more are required to file returns. Those failing to do so will be classified as non-filers or late filers, facing consequences such as travel restrictions, blocked mobile SIMs, and potential disconnection of electricity and gas services.
