The National Task Force was established to bring reforms to the power sector, with members including Energy Minister Owais Leghari, army officials, and representatives from other institutions.

In a significant development, 5 IPPs (Independent Power Producers) have mutually agreed to end their contracts after negotiations with the task force. This decision will save the Government of Pakistan Rs. 411 billion, and it is expected to reduce circular debt by Rs. 86 billion.

Prime Minister thanked the Task Force and the Pakistan Army for their support, especially acknowledging the role of the Army Chief. He also appreciated the cooperation of the IPPs in resolving matters smoothly, stating that these steps will lead to reforms in the power sector and improve the lives of the public.

Energy Minister Owais Leghari emphasized that electricity prices should be brought down to below Rs. 10 per unit, which will help boost the industry. He noted that reaching this goal involved several stages of efforts.
