Government Spent Rs. 2.7 Billion on Handling PTI Protests Over 18 Months

Islamabad: Official figures reveal that the government spent Rs. 2.7 billion over 18 months to manage protests and sit-ins by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In the last six months alone, approximately Rs. 1.2 billion were spent on handling the protests. According to the data:

  • Rs. 800 million were paid to owners of 3,000 rented containers.
  • Over Rs. 900 million were spent on transportation for security personnel.
  • Around Rs. 1.5 billion were allocated for police meals and transport.

Additionally, Rs. 300 million were spent on deploying FC, Rangers, and military personnel. Police duties involved 12,000 officers from Islamabad and 16,000 from Punjab.

The report also highlights damages worth Rs. 1.5 billion to public and private property during the protests.
