The Swiss Federal Council has announced that a nationwide ban on wearing burqas in public places will take effect from January 1, 2025.

Muslim women will not be allowed to wear burqas in public spaces, and violations will result in fines exceeding $1,000. However, the ban will not apply in airplanes, embassies, places of worship, or situations requiring face coverings for health, safety, or promotional purposes.
