Strict Action to Be Taken Against Propaganda Targeting State Institutions, Cybercrime Agency (NCCIA) Now Operational

31

The federal cabinet has approved the rules for the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), which will now take strict action against propaganda targeting state institutions and government officials.

Individuals involved in cybercrimes could face penalties ranging from 5 to 15 years in prison, along with heavy fines.

After 11 months, the NCCIA has become operational with full authority to combat cybercrimes. It is also authorized to coordinate with international organizations for action against cybercriminals.

The caretaker government had approved the establishment of the NCCIA in December 2023. With this move, the FIA’s Cybercrime Wing will be dissolved, and its officers will continue to serve the new authority for up to one year.
