Islamabad: Chinese PM Li Qiang arrived in Pakistan to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization SCO summit. He was warmly welcomed by children presenting him with a bouquet upon his arrival in Islamabad.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and other high-ranking officials greeted the Chinese PM at Noor Khan Airbase. A 21-gun salute and a Guard of Honor were presented to him as part of the welcome ceremony.
In a message following his arrival, PM Li Qiang expressed his delight in visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and participating in the 23rd Meeting of the SCO Heads of Government.
The Chinese PM mentioned that he was warmly welcomed upon stepping off the plane and was deeply touched by the brotherly friendship and hospitality of the Pakistani people. He also highlighted Pakistan’s importance as a developing nation, an emerging market, and a major Muslim country. He reaffirmed that Pakistan is a vital strategic partner and an “ironclad friend” of China.
Li Qiang further emphasized the strong admiration Chinese citizens have for Pakistan, noting that over the past 73 years, both nations have maintained mutual trust and support. He remarked that China-Pakistan relations have become a prime example of exemplary state-to-state ties.
