Meta is currently testing new AI-powered video editing features designed to help advertisers create more engaging content on Facebook and Instagram.
These innovative tools will enable advertisers to animate static images and expand the background of videos. With the AI animation feature, users can upload a still image, and Meta’s tool will generate a video. For example, the tool can make strawberries in the background gently float around a jar, adding dynamic movement to the content.
Additionally, these tools allow for the enlargement of existing videos. Using AI, they generate “unseen pixels” in each frame, effectively increasing the video’s size—similar to how some AI image editing applications can extend an image’s background. Meta is currently rolling out these features for testing, with plans for a broader launch early next year.
These developments build upon Meta’s existing AI capabilities for advertisers, which already support text and image generation in ad creation. The new ads will also be featured on a forthcoming full-screen video tab on Facebook.
