Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met with officials from the National Press Club. Alongside him were provincial ministers Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Saeed Ghani, as well as Secretary Rahim Sheikh and Secretary of Information Sindh Nadeem Memon.
During the meeting, CM Shah emphasized that Karachi needs $3 billion to become a modern city. He mentioned that this year, 218 billion rupees have been allocated for development projects in Karachi and stressed that at least 1,000 billion rupees should be spent annually on the city’s development.
He noted that the city government has been empowered, which has led to the commercialization of important roads. The CM also highlighted issues related to illegal encroachments along drains, stating that after much struggle, they managed to rectify the situation.
Modern Transportation Initiatives The Sindh government has made considerable efforts for the development of its capital city, Karachi. CM Shah said they are working hard to provide modern transport facilities to the public. The government has made significant progress in the transport sector, with the Green Line already completed and work ongoing on the Red and Yellow Lines. He described the People’s Bus Service as a gift to the citizens to ease their travel.
Furthermore, Shah mentioned the introduction of a pink bus service, emphasizing their respect for women and commitment to providing for their needs. He expressed satisfaction that the people of Sindh are happy with these modern transport facilities.
Housing and Development for Rain-affected Victims In addressing journalists, CM Shah provided updates regarding the housing situation for rain-affected victims, stating that 600 billion rupees are needed to construct two million houses. He noted that funding for the construction of homes would come from donor agencies, as well as provincial and federal governments, with the federal government beginning to release its share of funds.
Public-Private Partnerships and Infrastructure Development The CM also briefed on the Sindh government’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) unit, which ranks sixth among Asian countries. He highlighted that Sindh is the only province that has constructed two bridges over the Indus River, with a third under construction. Additionally, he mentioned that a bridge from Jhirk to Mulan has been completed, and another bridge from Ghotki to Kandhkot is being built through the PPP mode.
Healthcare Initiatives During the briefing on public healthcare, CM Shah noted that the Sindh government has made significant advancements since the 18th Constitutional Amendment, acquiring hospitals like Jinnah Hospital, NICVD, and NICH. He mentioned the hard work put into these institutions to transform them into exemplary hospitals. Following a recent Supreme Court decision that placed these hospitals under federal control, the Sindh government has signed a 25-year agreement with the federal government to manage them.
Recognition from Journalists Journalists from Islamabad praised the Sindh government’s efforts and acknowledged their visit to various institutions, including Nasrat Bhutto University and Aroor University in Sukkur, as well as Gambat Hospital and SIUT Sukkur, commending them as excellent establishments.
They also noted that while they have seen Skardu Airport, the airport in Thar is remarkable. The Sindh government has actively supported its press club, ensuring robust assistance to the media community.

CM Shah emphasized that the Sindh government will provide all possible support to the National Press Club in Islamabad.
The meeting included National Press Club officials such as President Azhar Jatoi, Vice President Shah Mohammad, Secretary Nair Ali, Senior Joint Secretary Aoun Shirazi, Joint Secretaries Talat Farooq and Saharish Qureshi, along with members of the governing body.
