The dengue virus is making a significant impact in Islamabad, with 64 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. Among these, 37 cases were identified in rural areas, while 27 were from urban regions, according to the District Health Officer (DHO) of Islamabad.
This season has seen a total of 668 dengue cases reported so far, with 418 cases from rural areas and 250 from urban areas, as stated by Dr. Zaeem Zia. Currently, 64 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the capital.
In the past 24 hours, six new dengue patients were admitted to PIMS, while two patients each were admitted to Polyclinic and Capital Hospital. Additionally, a total of 51 dengue cases were reported from private labs.
Among the patients, 71% are male and 29% female. Since the beginning of the season, private labs have reported 313 dengue cases, with 182 patients treated at Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi, 55 at PIMS, and 13 at Capital Hospital. Four patients are also under treatment at DHQ Rawalpindi, and 75 patients are being treated at Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Rawalpindi.
The DHO highlighted that Korang, Rawat, and Tarlai are sensitive areas concerning dengue outbreaks, noting that 3,410 dengue larvae samples tested positive this month.
