According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will participate in the UN General Assembly session in New York from September 23 to 27, where he will deliver his address on September 27.
In his speech, the Prime Minister is expected to support the UN’s role in promoting global peace, security, and welfare. He will emphasize the importance of addressing longstanding issues on the UN Security Council’s agenda, including the Palestine issue and the Kashmir conflict.
The Prime Minister will also highlight the need to address inequalities in international economic relations and call for reforms in the international financial system.
The spokesperson added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will appeal to the international community for immediate actions against the rising trend of Islamophobia. He will also participate in several meetings related to the General Assembly session.
Among the meetings is a discussion on the “Threat of Rising Sea Levels.” Additionally, the Prime Minister will engage with global leaders on initiatives supporting the sustainable development agenda.
The statement further mentioned that the Prime Minister’s schedule includes meetings with the UN Secretary-General and the President of the General Assembly, where he will emphasize placing people at the center of the development agenda.
