During the Rehmatul-lil-Alameen ﷺ Conference in Peshawar, all attendees stood in respect as the Pakistani national anthem began. However, Afghan Consul General, Mohibullah Shakir, and his associates did not stand for the anthem.
In response to the incident, a spokesperson for the Afghan Consulate released a statement clarifying that there was no intention to disrespect or dishonor the Pakistani anthem. The spokesperson explained that the Consul General did not stand due to the presence of music in the anthem, which is against their practice.
The Afghan Consulate further stated that they have also banned music in their own national anthem for similar reasons.
