The Gilgit-Baltistan government has increased permit fees for climbing the region’s highest peaks. According to the new notification, foreign climbers will now pay $2,500 for a K2 permit during the autumn season and $1,500 in winter. Pakistani climbers will see a rise in their permit fee from PKR 30,000 to PKR 100,000. Additionally, the tracking fee for foreigners has been increased from $100 to $300. The notification also specifies that climbers can only use one permit for a single peak and must obtain separate permits for multiple peaks. Moreover, the maximum group size is limited to 20 members, and insurance coverage for high-altitude porters is now set at PKR 2 million.
