Oil and Gas Discovery in Sanghar District, Sindh

36

The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a significant gas condensate discovery at the Baloch-2 well located in the Sinjhoro Block, District Sanghar, Sindh Province. The discovery was made through a joint venture between OGDCL, which holds a 76% working interest, and its partners Orient Petroleum (19%) and GHPL (5%).

The Baloch-2 well was spudded on February 24, 2024, and drilled down to a total depth of 3,920 meters in the Sembar Formation as an exploratory effort by OGDCL. With in-house evaluation and technical support from Joint Venture Partners, the well has successfully tested 6.8 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 388 barrels of condensate per day (BCPD) with a wellhead flowing pressure of 2,180 pounds per square inch (Psi).

This discovery is the first milestone in the Sinjhoro Block from the Sembar Formation, which is recognized for its promising source potential and contributes significantly to the hydrocarbon reserves of the Middle and Lower Indus Basin of Pakistan. The success of Baloch-2 not only highlights the untapped potential of the Sembar Formation but also opens new avenues for further exploration and development in the region.

OGDCL is committed to appraising and fully developing the Baloch-2 discovery, proactively planning to re-enter existing shut-in wells and systematically develop the full potential of the Sembar Formation.

The company submitted this information in compliance with Section 96 of the Securities Act, 2015, and Clause 5.6.1(a) of PSX Regulations for dissemination among the stakeholders.
