India has refused to grant visas to Pakistani snooker players for the upcoming World U17 and U21 Snooker Championships, scheduled from August 24 to 31 in Bangalore.
Pakistan had nominated a five-member team, including three players, to participate in the championship. The Pakistan Sports Board and the relevant ministry had granted permission for the snooker federation to send the team to India.
The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) expressed strong displeasure over India’s decision. PBSA Chairman, Alamgir Sheikh, recorded a formal protest, stating that India’s refusal to issue visas for a global event is regrettable for the world of snooker.
