Quetta – Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has announced a nationwide strike on August 28 to protest against the increase in electricity bills.
Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman criticized the state of the city, attributing it to the absence of municipal institutions. He expressed concern over the growing insecurity across the country and highlighted ongoing protests in Balochistan, where the issue of missing persons remains a major concern.
He stated that economic issues are severe, making it nearly impossible for the public to pay electricity bills, a situation so dire that even the Prime Minister has commented on it.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman accused the authorities of collecting money for power generation without actually producing electricity. He criticized the powerful and corrupt elements that are undermining the country’s economy, noting that those managing the economy are weak, while those exploiting it are very powerful.
